Redwood dog house
June 25, 2026

This was the first build on the property. We had recently gotten a Great Pyrenees dog, our neighbors had his brother and I thought it would be a good thing to build a dog house that would house both. It worked for about a year when they became territorial and started fighting so we stopped putting them in there.

But it was a fun build. I would mill the redwood, making a few 4x4s or 1x6s, then I would install them. The wood was was so green, it was oozing sap. One of the good thing about redwood is that it doesn’t move much while it dries. Because I had so much live-edge boards I decided to do a live-edge siding. I put boards inside the walls as well (but not live-edge). Then I threw in about half a hay bale for comfort. The smell was divine!
