A gorgeous build set in three mature redwood trees. The treehouse base is fixed to one tree and can move relative to the other two. Built slowly, over a year and a half, with the help of a come-along and my own biceps.

A year into the build, in October, I drove to Lakebay, Washington to attend the annual World Treehouse Conference. I met a lot of wonderful people there—professional arborists, amateur and professional treehouse builders, scientists, musicians. People with a knack for being outside and building things. I loved every minute of it. The food was great, the coffee pot kept warm and full. I made a couple of friends and met the people I’d been reading about: Pete Nelson and his team of really nice guys and gals.

There I also met and spoke with Julia Butterfly Hill. She is very approachable and easy to talk with.
